Krishna had spent a long time attending to the cows. Then He wished to continue tending the herd. Balarama happily joined Him. Their close cowherd companions were with them too. Together they entered farther into the forest.

Krishna affectionately addressed Balarama and His friends. Among those He called were Stoka-Krishna, Shridama, and Subala. He also called Arjuna, Vishala, Ojasvin, Devaprastha, and Varuthapa. He asked them to look at the splendor of the forest. The trees had young leaves that resembled coral. Their branches held various birds, flowers, and fruits.

Krishna praised the beauty of the trees of Vrindavan. But He said that ordinary trees too lead very useful lives. In His praise He enumerated their leaves and flowers. He mentioned their fruits, bark, and firewood. He included even their ashes among their useful gifts. Thus He described the life of a tree as beneficial to all living beings.

Then the group continued toward the bank of the Yamuna. Krishna wanted the cows to drink there. He too wished to drink water. His friends and Balarama went with Him. The cows drank beside the river. Krishna rested beneath a tree.
