Artistic illustration of the story

Radha spoke to her sakhi about Krishna. Her song turned to an earlier meeting. At night she had entered a secluded woodland bower.

Krishna was already there, concealed. Startled, Radha looked in every direction. He appeared to her with a smile.

At that first meeting, Radha had been shy. Krishna reassured her with gentle words. She answered softly, with a sweet smile.

She recalled their embrace and a resting place of tender leaves. Her jeweled anklets rang in her recollection. Flowers had loosened in her hair.

Now she appealed again to her friend. She asked to be brought together with generous Keshava. The memory of closeness accompanied her longing for another meeting.
