One night dark clouds covered the sky over Vraja. Radha set out to meet Krishna. Her close companions went with her. One attendant walked ahead and showed the way. The poet connects their path with Yogamaya's guidance. Radha wore dark clothing and the fragrance of musk. Anticipation of the meeting mingled with shyness. Her steps were neither steady nor quick.

Her friends encouraged her to continue. When she slowed, they offered the support of a hand. Sometimes she moved a little forward, then withdrew again. At last they brought her to her beloved's home. Krishna took her hand when she again wished to leave. The sakhis remained beside the doorway. With a movement of her brows she signaled them not to go. Reassured by her gesture, they stayed nearby.

Krishna welcomed her, and Radha listened in silence. When He looked at her, she closed her eyes. Her reserve did not disappear at her friends' words. Then a powerful peal of thunder sounded from the clouds. At its sound Radha suddenly drew close to Krishna and embraced Him. He kept her beside Him with His arm. The friends smiled and playfully thanked the cloud. They said that with one thunderclap it had accomplished what they had encouraged with their words.
