The next festive day followed the celebration of Govardhan. The residents again assembled at the bank of the Yamuna to bathe. Their joy was accompanied by drums and other instruments. The festival of Bhratri-dvitiya had arrived. It was the day when sisters invited their brothers. Upananda's daughter arranged to invite Krishna.

Her invitation was conveyed with care and skill. Krishna accepted it with affection for His sister. Balarama and the cowherd companions went with Him. Among them was the brahmin known for his cheerful jokes. The sister served them many kinds of delicious food. There were sweet cakes, rice dishes, and drinks before them.

As they ate, the brahmin addressed his friend Krishna. He jokingly asked why the creator had not made every day Bhratri-dvitiya. He also asked why Krishna did not have as many sisters as there were days in the year. If even one of those two wishes were fulfilled, what delight they would have! He admitted how much he loved the food at such feasts. He said that even at yesterday's hill festival he had not eaten as he did today.

His words brought laughter. Krishna continued eating amid this cheerful exchange. His behavior delighted those present. The meal was followed by mutual expressions of respect. Clothing and ornaments of gold and precious stones were given. Thus this family festival feast came to its close.
