As they walked beside Govardhan, Lalita noticed that Radha was moving slowly. Vrinda thought the vessel of ghee was tiring her. She compared Radha's tenderness to the softness of fresh ghee. She worried about her head, worthy of bearing jasmine flowers. She asked Radha to entrust the vessel to her so she could carry it herself.

Radha explained that the vessel's weight was not slowing her down. The burden was the many ornaments Lalita had insisted she wear. Vishakha asked her to pause and removed some of the jewelry. Vrinda said that Radha eclipsed Padma, Chandravali's friend, even without ornaments. She therefore considered all that effort over jeweled adornment unnecessary.

Radha mentioned that the sages gave ornaments to the women bringing ghee. Vrinda answered that their cherished wishes could also be fulfilled. She invited them to salute Govardhan's sacred places with joined palms. All the sakhis did so. Then Champakalata pointed out beautiful Brahma-kunda to Chitra.

Chitra said that Narayana, known as Hari-raya, dwelt there. Vrinda praised Govardhan's special glory in comparison with Shesha. Krishna shared His loving pastimes on its slopes, on its peaks, and in its caves. Lalita directed Radha's attention to a large, fragrant rock. She reminded her that Krishna had once adorned her there with musk designs.

Then Champakalata drew her friend's attention toward the hill. She described a dark cloud doubling the beauty of the dark pavilion. Above it she thought she saw a row of white cranes. Beside it she thought she saw a flash of lightning. Through these poetic comparisons she described what she saw in the distance.

Lalita joyfully corrected her: what stood before them was no cloud. Krishna stood beside the slope. The whiteness they saw was His necklace hanging from His neck. The brilliant yellow was His garment. Lalita said that the tree of their wishes had now blossomed.

Radha trembled as she looked at Him and addressed Vrinda. She compared His appearance to a moon rising before their eyes. Vrinda pointed out Krishna as He moved His arms. She praised Him as the One able to fulfill the cowherd women's cherished wishes. His beauty drew forth the loving longing of the cowherd women.

Radha said that she had already seen Hari many times. Yet this beauty seemed entirely unlike anything she had seen before. Her eyes could not drink even a little of the splendor of a single part of Him. Vrinda teased her that she always spoke this way on seeing Madhava. She asked whether He was always new or Radha's intense love made her eyes forget.
