Konstnärlig illustration av berättelsen

The sakhi told Krishna about Radha. In separation, Radha remained absorbed in him. Alone, she drew his likeness with musk.

In the drawing, Krishna appeared as the god of love. She placed a makara beneath his likeness. She depicted a fresh mango sprig as an arrow in his hand.

Then she bowed to the drawing. Absorbed in contemplation, she imagined Krishna before her. She lamented, laughed, grew restless and wept.

The verse moves between her distress and moments of relief. She repeatedly addressed Madhava, surrendering at his feet. When he remained distant, even moonlight felt burning to her.
