Radha and Krishna sing and walk with the gopis beside the Yamuna beneath the moon
Ilustrasi artistik kisah

The Yamuna shone beneath the bright moon. Vines moved gently in the breeze. Vrinda welcomed Radha and Krishna. Her helpers had arranged the beautiful pavilion. A flower-adorned seat was prepared for both. Fragrant garlands added to its beauty. Fresh water and fans were close at hand. Pleasant coolness came from the river. The sakhis gathered around the beloved pair. Night became the beginning of a new song.

Krishna looked upon the forest before Him. He saw Radha, the river, and the illuminated banks. A wish for play arose within His heart. He gently raised the flute to His lips. The melody reached all the friends. It was a call to share the beauty. The gopis heard His invitation. They answered by singing His names. Their voices joined the flute. Music brought the whole company together.

Radha rose together with Krishna. The sakhis and Vrinda went with Them. Flowering paths opened ahead. No one hurried to reach the end. Each step revealed something new. One branch touched the moon's reflection. Another leaned above the quiet water. Krishna sang softly as He walked. The friends continued His song. Radha shared the joy of the walk.

Trees and vines seemed to awaken. The breeze moved their tender leaves. Flowers filled the air with fragrance. Cuckoos answered from the green branches. Bees continued their quiet humming. Peacocks stirred among the trees. Their feathers received the night's light. The forest was full of movement and sound. The sakhis noticed different little beauties. And shared them with Radha and Krishna.

Radha's golden radiance touched the light. Krishna's dark radiance stood out among the leaves. The poet joins these colors with the moon. The forest becomes an image of Their closeness. Radha looked upon His face. Krishna noticed Her smiling gaze. Their steps fell into harmony along the path. The sakhis moved close by. No song was alone. Each voice enriched the others' joy.

Krishna spoke to the forest dwellers. He greeted the birds and deer. He asked whether they were happy. The vines received His gentle attention too. The bees were part of the same greeting. We may imagine Radha's smile. His words included the whole forest. No small inhabitant was without meaning. Nature became a close company. The walk gained a warmer voice.

Branches swayed like arms in a dance. Flowers resembled delicate fingers. The breeze guided their movement. Birds filled the song between them. Radha observed the flowering shrubs. Krishna followed Her with an attentive gaze. The path brought Them to the ashoka trees. Small flower clusters opened on the branches. Their beauty drew special attention. Radha wished to share it with Him.

She carefully chose two clusters of flowers. Her hand moved toward Krishna. She placed them as ornaments beside His ears. The blossoms adorned His beautiful face. Krishna received Her tender care. The sakhis watched the scene with joy. There was great attention in the little gesture. Radha could offer Him something from the forest. He could receive Her love. The two flower clusters became part of the song.

Then Krishna reached for flowers too. He wished to adorn Radha in the same way. She playfully tried to direct the exchange. But this time He completed His gift. He gently placed the blossoms beside Her ears. Radha smiled at His playful success. The friends continued singing in clear voices. The river carried the light beside them. Now both wore a gift from the other. The walk continued with a new reason for joy.

This is a literary retelling of chapter twenty-two. It follows the walk and the exchange of flowers. The additional descriptions are imagined elaborations. The text is not a literal translation of the poem. The source link leads to the nighttime pastimes. Radha and Krishna share the beauty of Vraja. The sakhis accompany Their song. Vrinda cares for the place and the company. Flowers hold the memory of the tender gifts. And the Yamuna keeps flowing beneath the moon.
