Paurnamasi arrived at Nanda's home. She loved Krishna and wished to see Him. The courtyard was busy with the morning's work. Yashoda stood up as soon as she saw her visitor. She welcomed her respectfully and bowed before her. Paurnamasi embraced Yashoda and blessed her. She asked about Yashoda, Nanda, Krishna and their cows. Yashoda told her that they were well. Then they entered Krishna's bedroom together. He was still resting on His ornamented bed.

His friends were already gathering in the courtyard. Subala, Sridama, Stokakrishna and the other cowherds had come. Balarama was there with them. They called for Krishna to rise and go to the cows. Madhumangala had also awakened. He decided to wake his friend himself. Yet he was still unsteady with sleep. He entered the room and called Krishna to get up. Krishna heard him and awoke. But His eyes were still heavy with drowsiness.

Yashoda leaned over the bed and touched Him. She asked Him to rise and let her see His face. She told Him that the cows were waiting. Nanda had already gone to them without disturbing His sleep. She wanted to wash His face. Then she noticed the blue garment covering Him. She took it to be a garment belonging to Balarama. The poem reveals that it actually belonged to Radha. Yashoda removed the blue cloth with her own hand. Krishna listened with shy concern.

Madhumangala joined the conversation with a joke. Before Yashoda, he spoke about the rough games of Krishna's friends. Paurnamasi smiled and urged Krishna to rise. She told Him that His brother and companions were waiting outside. Krishna stretched, yawned and sat on the edge of the bed. He offered His respects to Paurnamasi. Yashoda gathered His loosened dark hair together. She washed His eyes with water from a golden vessel. Then she gently dried His face with her apron. Krishna entered the courtyard with Madhumangala, carrying His flute.

His friends surrounded Him affectionately. One took His hand, another the edge of His garment. Yashoda told Him to attend to the calves and cows. Afterward He was to return quickly for breakfast. On the way, Madhumangala amused the boys with images of sunrise. Krishna entered among the cows with Balarama and Madhumangala. Again and again He called them by name. Among them were Ganga, Godavari, Kalindi and Yamuna. He milked a few Himself, while the boys tended to the others. He scratched the cows affectionately and gave them pleasure.

Meanwhile, Mukhara had awakened in Yavat. The grandmother wished to see her granddaughter Radha. Jatila asked her to prepare Radha for worship of the Sun. She herself called Radha to rise and take Her bath. Mukhara entered the room, reminding Her that it was Sunday. Vishakha heard the call and quickly sat up. Together with Mukhara, she tried to wake her friend. Radha awoke, only to be overcome by sleep again. Rati Manjari took the opportunity to serve Her feet. At their repeated calls, Radha finally rose.

Then Mukhara noticed a yellow garment on Radha. She had seen that same cloth on Krishna the previous evening. Concerned, she asked Vishakha for an explanation. Her friend immediately glanced at the garment. Then she replied that the light was deceiving Mukhara. She said golden sunbeams were coming through the window. According to her explanation, they made the blue cloth look golden. Meanwhile, Lalita and the other sakhis arrived. The attendants were already waiting by the bathing place. The morning continued with their care for Radha.
