Krishna and Balarama arrived at Sandipani Muni's ashram. His ashram was a place of learning and service. The brothers came with respect for the sage. They accepted him as Their spiritual teacher. He welcomed Them among his students. His wife cared for the household. The students lived and learned together. Each day brought a new lesson. Knowledge was accompanied by attentive work. The brothers gladly joined life there.

Sandipani instructed his students. They listened carefully to his words. Krishna and Balarama mastered the lessons quickly. Yet They did not behave arrogantly. They honored the teacher and his family. They helped with daily tasks. The other students shared the same surroundings. Together they carried out duties in the ashram. Learning was more than repeating words. It could also be seen in the students' actions.

One day the weather changed unexpectedly. Rain clouds gathered above the forest. The teacher's household needed firewood. His wife called the students. She asked them to bring wood from the forest. Some hesitated because of the rain. They wondered how they could leave so late. Krishna and Balarama heard the conversation. The brothers wanted to help. Without delay They prepared for the journey.

The two went deep into the forest. They looked for good wood for their teacher's home. Other students followed Them. But the rain grew stronger and stronger. Soon visibility among the trees grew poor. The paths became harder to follow. Krishna and Balarama continued carefully. They gathered wood They could carry. They were glad to be able to serve. They did not know how long the storm would last.

Evening approached. Darkness covered the forest. Rain continued to fall around the students. The path to the ashram was not easily visible. The brothers could not return quickly. They kept the wood They had gathered. They remained in the forest through the night. The other students also faced the storm. The wait was long and difficult. Yet their wish to help did not disappear.

In the morning Sandipani learned what had happened. He became anxious for his students. He hurried to search for Them in the forest. He passed through dense vines and trees. He did not want to wait while They were in difficulty. His concern was like a father's care. At last he found Krishna and Balarama. They were tired from the night. They still carried the wood They had gathered. The teacher saw how hard They had worked.

The brothers bowed before Sandipani. Their service touched his heart. He embraced Them with great affection. Tears of love appeared in his eyes. He blessed Them to receive true knowledge. The other students took the gathered wood. All made their way back to the ashram. The dangerous night was behind them. Sandipani was again with his students. Their return brought relief to the household.

The wood was prepared for use. Life in the ashram continued. The teacher again instructed the students. Krishna and Balarama learned attentively. Their respect did not depend on easy circumstances. It was shown in the rain as well. Sandipani did not forget Their devotion. They had experienced his fatherly care. Their mutual trust grew still stronger. The students continued to grow in knowledge.

The brothers studied the arts and sciences. Sandipani guided Their education. In time They completed Their studies. They did not forget their teacher's labor. The respect They showed was part of Their example. At the ashram They were students despite Their greatness. They accepted his instruction with attention. And They helped him when help was needed. Their story speaks of gratitude in action. Sandipani remained Their beloved teacher.

This retelling comes from Gopala-campu. At its center is an event in the forest. Rain kept the students far from home. The teacher went to search for Them himself. The firewood was a modest but meaningful gift. Sandipani's concern was his response. Krishna and Balarama learned with respect. He blessed Them with love. Their bond grew stronger through shared service. Thus ends the story of the night in the forest.
