Krishna disguised as the healer Vidyavali arrives with Gargi at Jatila's home
Hikâyenin sanatsal çizimi

Jatila grew more watchful of Radha each day. One day she called her daughter Kutila. She wanted Radha to remain inside the house. She wished Krishna to keep away as well. Kutila reminded her of Yashoda's invitations. Radha cooked for Krishna at Nanda's home. It was not simple to end that service.

Yet Jatila closed the door to Radha. Her friends felt the sorrow of their separation. Dhanishtha came with news from Nanda's home. Krishna too, she said, grieved without their meetings. Radha listened in the quiet room. Lalita and Vishakha considered how to help. An unusual idea arose from their concern.

That evening Vishakha arrived weeping before Jatila. She claimed a snake had bitten Radha. Jatila hurried straight into Radha's room. She saw Radha lying there and trembling. Fear for her overcame every suspicion. They needed someone who knew how to help. No ordinary answer would calm Jatila.

They sought advice from the wise Paurnamasi. Gargi mentioned a healer named Vidyavali. She knew mantras and remedies for snakebites, Gargi said. Jatila asked her to bring the healer quickly. Gargi set off along the path with the others. Vidyavali did come, but in a new guise. Krishna was concealed beneath her garments.

The disguised healer reached the house. Jatila welcomed her with great expectation. Gargi praised the visitor's skill. Krishna hid the sound of His familiar voice. He drew near Radha like an attentive healer. The friends knew the visitor's true identity. Their glances met above the secret plan.

Vidyavali asked everyone what had happened. Jatila repeated the story of the snake. The healer spoke in a serious tone. Mantras and her careful attention were needed, she said. Radha must be kept calm and protected. Jatila listened to her every word. Fear gradually gave way to hope.

Then a voice claiming to be the snake was heard. In the account Krishna deftly changes His voices. Jatila listened to the strange exchange in wonder. The voice defended Radha's good character. It asked that no one confine her again. She should be free to visit her friends. And to go to Yashoda's home when invited.

Jatila reflected on her former strictness. She had been afraid for Radha and her son. Before them all she promised Radha freedom. Kutila too promised to end her accusations. The healer listened to their new words. The friends saw the household beginning to change. Radha need no longer live behind a closed door.

The mysterious voice then fell silent in the room. Vidyavali announced that the danger had passed. Jatila felt a great wave of relief. Radha was again surrounded by care. Gargi and the friends completed their plan. Krishna had reached the meeting He desired. And Jatila remembered the promise she had made.

The play began with fear and a closed door. It continued with friendly ingenuity and a disguise. It ended with room for Radha to go out again. Yashoda could call her to cook once more. The friends saw hope return to her eyes. Krishna left Vidyavali's role behind Him. The account remembers care becoming trust.
