Vishala helps young Krishna with His ankle bells as Yashoda looks on in the courtyard
Уметничка илустрација приче

Morning in Vraja began before the cows set out. At Nanda's home, mother Yashoda was dressing Krishna. Outside waited the friends who would go with Him. Among them was a boy named Vishala. He had come early, eager to see Him.

Vishala stood by the doorway and waited carefully. He did not want to interrupt the family morning. But he did not want to miss their departure either. Yashoda noticed him and invited him inside. With her invitation the friend entered the home.

Krishna was still getting ready for the forest. Yashoda arranged His clothes and ornaments. Vishala came near to help with His ankle bells. It was a small task that he could do. He did it gladly because he was close to Krishna.

Krishna saw how earnestly His friend was helping. Instead of sitting still, He raised His flute. He playfully touched Vishala with it. The boy looked up, and both of them smiled. For a moment getting ready became a game.

Yashoda saw Krishna teasing His friend. She told Him to let Vishala help. Her voice held both concern and warmth. Krishna laughed, and Vishala laughed too. Their friendship needed no formal speech.

In The Nectar of Devotion this is a brief scene. It shows Krishna's closeness to the cowherd boys. They do not stand far away waiting for attention. They enter His home, help, and laugh with Him. Their bond appears in small gestures.

After dressing came the cows and the path. The friends would travel together into the woods. Sometimes an animal would stray from the herd. Then the boys would tell Krishna where it had gone. He would thank them for taking care.

Vishala needed no grand task to feel close. It was enough to come at the right time. It was enough to fasten one ankle bell. It was enough to answer a joke with laughter. Small acts show friendship throughout this morning.

Yashoda watched them leave the courtyard. For her, Krishna was the son she had dressed. For Vishala, He was a friend for the day ahead. These two kinds of love met by the doorway. Morning continued along a familiar path.

When we imagine the sound of those bells, we may remember Vishala's patient hands. And the flute with which Krishna made him laugh. Sometimes a little help becomes an entire memory. So this scene keeps Vraja's friendship close.
