Krishna searches for Radha in the flowering forest beside the Yamuna
Уметничка илустрација приче

After the joyful songs came silence. Krishna noticed that Radha was gone. He looked around the circle of friends. He could not find Her among the flowering vines. Her absence touched Him deeply. He remembered the way She had left. He had neither stopped nor comforted Her then. Now He wished to understand Her heart. He left the cheerful gathering behind. And went through the forest to seek Her.

He passed along the path by the tamala trees. He heard the wind among their leaves. He looked into every flowering shelter. But nowhere did He see Radha. He approached the bank of the Yamuna. The river moved quietly beside the grass. Reflections of the sky shimmered on the water. Krishna stopped and looked around. Each familiar corner awakened a memory of Her. But memory could not replace Her presence.

Regret entered His heart. He had seen Radha walk away. He had not understood Her sorrow in time. He had found no word to ask Her to stay. “Why did I not approach Her more gently?” He thought. “Why did I not ask how She felt?” Those questions followed Him along the path. No one else could answer for Him. He wished to see Her again. And this time truly listen to Her.

Krishna sat in the shade of a garden. Flowering branches leaned above Him. The spring fragrance was the same as before. But His heart received it differently. What had brought Him joy a moment ago now reminded Him of absent Radha. Birds sang from the distant forest. Every sound made Him turn around. Perhaps She was returning along the path. Yet before Him were only leaves and light.

Radha appeared in His thoughts. He remembered Her smile. Her gaze full of feeling. The tenderness of words They had shared. The memories were dear and painful at once. Krishna did not wish to blame Her for leaving. He began to see His own inattention. Regret could not change His past action. But it could open a path to conversation. He hoped He would have that chance.

“Where is Radha now?” He wondered. “Who is listening to Her sorrow?” He hoped a friend was beside Her. Someone who would understand without judgment. He did not want to force Her return. He wanted to know that She was well. He remained in the garden by the river. Time passed between light and shadow. His flute rested in His hands. Now even silence had a song of its own.

He looked toward the path again. The wind carried the scent of fresh flowers. A vine stirred beside Him. For a moment He thought Radha was coming. Then He saw only softly moving leaves. Hope returned once more to longing. Still Krishna did not stop waiting. He carried Radha within His heart. And wished His words to be sincere when the time came to speak again.

Far from Him Radha also felt separation. Her sakhi was beside Her. The friend knew Radha's sorrow. Soon she would see Krishna's longing too. A path lay between the two flowering bowers. Along it she could carry a message. Yet every conversation needed patience. Feelings do not change on command. Krishna remained ready to listen. And friendship prepared a bridge between them.

In the poem Krishna searches for Radha. He regrets not asking Her to stay. The song reveals His longing too. His sorrow answers Hers. The forest by the Yamuna becomes a place of memory. The flowers remain as beautiful as before. But separation gives them a different hue. The heart misses the beloved person. Hope is born in that very silence. And sincere regret prepares the next word.

This is a literary retelling of the third chapter. Some questions and details are imagined elaborations. The original poem is linked below the story. Krishna waits by the river with Radha in His thoughts. His longing does not erase Her pain. Both feelings have a place in the story. The friend will soon bring news. Her care will bring the hearts closer. And the Yamuna will keep flowing quietly. While the path toward their meeting remains open.
